banahMETA is a pozzolanic material that can be blended with Portland cement to make concrete stronger and more durable at a cost effective price.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

 

banahMETA is a Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM) which greatly improves the durability of concretes and mortars.  This metakaolin additive is a calcined powder made from a natural pozzolanic material at the banah UK state of the art production facility in Northern Ireland.


banahMETA IS A COST EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE OPTION TO PURE METAKAOLIN OR SILICA FUME POZZOLANS AND A MORE SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY OPTION WITH ADDITIONAL BENEFITS TO PULVERISED FLY ASH (PFA) OR GROUND GRANULATED BLASTFURNACE SLAG (GGBS).

Environmental Impact

banahMETA delivers a reduction in man-made CO2 emissions of up to 70% compared with CEM I Portland cement production and a significant reduction in the ‘end to end’ CO2 emissions associated with the supply of either PFA or GGBS. Blended Portland cements using banahMETA® can produce a range of high performance products.

Storage

banahMETA should be used within 12 months of  the date of manufacture.  It is packaged and transported in 1m³ bags and 26 tonne tanker loads.  When handling banahMETA, please observe PPE recommendations given on the Safety Data Sheet.

Dosage

banahMETA is can be blended with CEMI (Portland Cement) in varying amounts in order to achieve a range of properties.  Depending upon the dosage of banahMETA, either a CEMII Portland-pozzolana Cement or a CEMIV Pozzolanic Cement can be made.

For Example only:
90% Portland cement and 10% banahMETA®, will result in a CEMII/A-Q (EN197-1:2011)

We recommend that various blends are trialled in order to achieve the properties that you so require.
